Tomb of the Patriarchs Re-Opened

Authorities cautiously re-open historic sites as COVID-19 pandemic subsides.

The Tomb of the Matriarchs & Patriarchs was re-opened on May 26, 2020 after its closure for two months due to coronavirus. A thorough cleaning and disinfection took place the day before.
 
In accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines, entry will be allowed for up to 50 people at a time. Proper social distancing and face masks are mandatory. Food and drink is not allowed.
 
Opening hours: 4:00am to 10:00 pm.

On June 3rd,  Rabbi Yaakov Avitan, the newly appointed Minister of Religious Affairs. Minister Avitan toured the City of the Patriarchs & Martriarchs with other staff from the Ministry including director general Oded Plus.

At the Tomb of Machpela, Rabbi Avitan offered a special prayer for all those suffering from COVID-19 and the health care workers and medical staff fighting the pandemic. 
 
Earler in the week, Australian and South African students living in Israel with the Ohrsom gap year program, part of the Masa Israel Journey, visited Hebron as part of their program, one of the first tour groups since the lockdown was lifted.
