10,000 Visit Hebron for Sarit Hadad Concert

Women’s gathering for slichot inspired masses in city of founding mothers.

One of Israel’s most well-known contemporary singers returned to Hebron and attracted over 10,000 people this Sunday night.

The annual women’s slichot gathering was a chance for group prayer and to connect to the Matriarchs and Patriarchs of the Jewish people during the Ten Days of Repentance. For the second year in a row, the headliner was Sarit Hadad, know for her Mizrcahi style Middle Eastern Israeli music. She wowed the crowd with her voice and musicianship, playing percussion and getting the crowd energized, with the towering Tomb of Machpela in the background.

Also on stage was Ricka Razel Van-Leeuwen, a popular entertainer from a family of musicians. Speaking at the event were inspirational educators Rebbetzin Shimrit Ohana and Rebbetzin Yemima Mizrahi. There was also a dance performance by a girls youth troupe from Kiryat Arba. The group performed in memory of fellow dancer Hallel Yaffa Ariel.
