15,000 Visit Hebron for Special Slichot Service

Masses connected to the founding fathers and mothers of Judaism during the Ten Days of Repentance.

Approximately 15,000 people visited the Tomb of Machpela in Hebron on Sunday night ahead of the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday.
The central slichot class was founded by Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu zt “l more than 20 years ago.
 

His son, the Chief Rabbi of Tzfat Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu returned again this year to teach the class which also included a musical performance. Also the Karliner Rebbe, or as Israelis refer to him, the Admor of Karlin, visited the Cave of the Patriarchs with 3,000 Karliner Hasidim. He is one of the many Hasidic rebbes who visit the holy site on a regular basis.

 
The day after, the women’s slichot gathering was attended by thousands, and featured Israeli pop star Sarit Hadad and educator Rebbitzin Yemima Mizrachi.
