בהיסטוריה היהודית לאורך אלפי שנים. בחברון החל להיווצר העם היהודי ובה הונח המסד לזהות
היהודית, שנבנתה על יסוד החיבור למורשת האבות והאמהות. היסוד לשם העם, הארץ והמדינה –
“ישראל” – נמצא בחברון, במערת המכפלה, בה טומנים אבות האומה, ובהם יעקב – הראשון בעולם
שנקרא “ישראל”.
