Deepening Roots in Hebron: Children Plant For Tu B’Shvat at Tomb of Machpela

Students from the local Hebron elementary school celebrated the
Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shvat this week by planting seedlings and flowers in a new garden
in front of the Tomb of Machpela. The garden was dedicated in memory of Genadi Kaufman,
a local gardener who recently lost his life. Joining them was Pesach Pinchevsky, who
worked closely with Genadi in beautifying and tending the area.

“Just as these roots which we plant will thrive, so will our community
thrive,” stated representatives of the Jewish Community of
Hebron.

Tu B’Shvat is the new year for the trees and is celebrated with planting, and
a festive seder meal featuring dried fruit.
