in June 2019 and toured the Cave of Machepla and other historic sites.
“It’s remarkable to think about not just Abraham, but Sarah and each husband and wife,”
he said referring to the Biblical Matriarchs and Patriarchs buried in the
cave.
Walker spoke to Dr. Joseph Frager, one of the organizers of the delegation that visited
Hebron and other locations in Judea and Samaria as part of a tour of the State of
Israel.
“For an extended period of time this was not under control of Israel or the Jewish
people,” Walker said in an interview with Israel National News. “Yet despite what some
say, there are still the markings on the wall in Arabic, yet another sign that this is
something that’s open to everyone,” he said.
In some countries, when one nation has taken over an important sites from another, all
traces of the former history are erased, such as in Hebron. During the Jordanian period,
the Jewish cemetery and synagogues were razed. Walker explained the Cave of the
Patriarchs is “obviously important from a religious standpoint but also from a
historical standpoint for anyone in the world and its now open to the public.”

“One of the best foundations for lasting peace is having Arab and Israeli people working
together, respecting each other, being engaged in good paying jobs that support
themselves and their families,” he told the Jerusalem Post.
He added the BDS movement (boycott-divestment-sanctions) is “not only hurting Israeli
people but hurting the very Arabs and their families who are benefiting from those
jobs.” Walker noted PA residents can make a better salary in Israel than in PA
controlled cities.
Walker also stressed the need for Israel to have defensible borders and was reluctant to
advocate territorial comprise in what is termed the West Bank.
The American elected official led Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019. He is the latest in a
