Defense Force, Israel police, yeshiva students and guests for a series on candle
lighting ceremonies held at the Tomb of Machpela in Hebron. The Jewish holiday of
Hanukkah was celebrated in the city of the Matriarchs & Patriarchs with song and
spirit.
Hebron was the site of a decisive battle during the rebellion of Judah Maccabee and the
Hasmoneans against the invading Seleucid Empire.
Hebron’s role in the Maccabean Revolt is mentioned in the apocryphal Book of the
Maccabees and in the works of the great historian Josephus. For more info click here.
Many of the Hasmonean battles took place in the Hebron region. Communities
such as Beit Tzur were sites of fierce battles won by the Judean
rebels.

Hanukkah candles with Elyakim Haetzni in Hebron
Attorney Elyakim Haetzni was one of the pioneers of the Jewish Community of
Hebron. Born in Germany, his family escaped the Holocaust by moving to the Land of
Israel where he fought and was wounded in the War of Independence in 1948. He was active
in the Gush Emunim movement to repopulate Judea and Samaria and served as a Member of

Lighting of the third candle of Hanukkah at the Tomb of Machpela / Cave of the
Patriarchs. We were honored to host IDF Lieutenant Colonel Maki Siboni and members of
the Judea and Samaria Division and their families from across the country. These
soldiers work day and night for the defense of the local communities and as a result,
the entire country. The Hebron Jewish Community and Biblical Heritage Site held a

להיט המסיבות של חורף 2003 (כנראה, זו לא המסיבה שלנו), זורק אותי בחזרה ישירות אל המטבח
הצבאי בנצרים. תורנות מטבח של 12 שעות. מטבח גדודי, כלומר כמה מאות חיילים שכמו חיילים,
צועדים על קיבתם. תפקידי בכוח: עבד עבדים, כלומר שוטף כלים. וסירים. ועוד כלים. וסירים.
ועוד סירים. זכור לרע במיוחד הסיר הענק ההוא, חצי קוב של גרגירי אורז בגוון צהוב-זרחן
שנדבקים לתחתית, יימח שמם. בציפורניים נלחמתי בהם, עד היום אני בטוח שעירבבו אותם עם איזשהו
חומר רדיואקטיבי. זה לא נגמר, לא נגמר. איפה אמנת ז’נווה כשצריך אותה. המים בטמפרטורת
סיביר, האצבעות מתחילות לשדר סימני קפיאה במגמת נשירה ודאית. מתחיל לחשב כמה גימ”לים זה
שווה, לא מספיק. 3-4 שקיות השוקו שהטבח זרק לי מהמקרר איבדו כבר את אפקט טובת ההנאה כבר
מזמן. מרגיש מזוהם, הדבר היחיד שאני רוצה לעשות זה לעוף להתקלח במים רותחים, מצידי מיד אחר
כך לעלות לעוד 12 שעות שמירה. אפילו בעמדת ‘טחב 4’ הקפואה, שיהיה. רק לעוף מפה. עכשיו לעונג
הצרוף הזה תוסיפו את הדובדבן, בדמות פס קול בווליום שמאתגר את עור התוף וחוסם כל יכולת
חשיבה תבונית: ‘בלבלי אותו, אל תעשי לו חשבון. בלבלי אותו, עד שלא יוכל לישון. בלבלי אותו
כמו שבילבלת אותי, בלבליייי–אותו –בלבליייי’. פעם, פעמיים, שלוש, מובן. מי לא מתבלבל מדי
פעם. אבל החברים מהמטבח, אלו שעושים שרות מלא בקו האש והגז (שיהיה ברור, מצדיע להם. לא
הייתי מתחלף איתם אפילו לחצי שעה), לא מוותרים. לא יודע מה יש להם מהשיר הזה, אולי היתה זו
הדרך שלהם לברוח מהמציאות הקשה בידיעה שתמיד יכול להיות גרוע יותר – מה שלא יהיה, הצרמוניה
האיומה הזו חוזרת על עצמה, פעם אחר פעם אחר פעם אחר פעם, בלופ בלתי נגמר. 4:20 דק’, 14 פעם
בשעה, 168 פעם ב12 שעות. מאותו היום ואילך – קובי פרץ ברדיו, סחבק מעביר תחנה. פוסט-טראומה,
דחק, הלם קרב, הלם כללי. מה שתרצו. ולכלים בבית אני לא מתקרב. למען ההגינות קנינו מדיח כלים
שנותן עבודה לא רעה בכלל – והכי חשוב, לא דורש שנשמיע לו קובי פרץ. ★★★★ כל זה בתוקף עד
אתמול. ליל אמש, ערב גדודי לחיילי גדוד 890 היקרים שתופסים כעת קו בחברון. זה קורה במרכז
גוטניק, למרגלות מערת המכפלה. ומי כוכב הערב? נכון, אותו קובי פרץ, גליית ולא אחרת. מה אומר
ומה אדבר. לא יודע מה יהיה בפעם הבאה שאשמע אותו ברדיו, אבל אני מרגיש סוג של סגירת מעגל.
כאילו סגרנו איזה עניין לא פתור של 14 שנה. מוזמנים לראות בעצמכם, הפעם לא בגירסת שידור חי
מפוקסלת (עניין של איכות שידור בעייתית). תיהנו, לא מאמין שאני אומר את זה. הנה,
אמרתי.
