Lag BaOmer Bonfire Brings Smiles and Song to Hebron

The annual Lag BaOmer celebration took place in Hebron in front of
the Tomb of Machpela,
ancient burial site of the Biblical Matriarchs and Patriarchs on Wednesday evening, May
25, 2016. The bonfire was lit as the crowd sang traditional songs of Shimon Bar
Yochai, the 2nd-century leader who help propagate the Kaballah, or mystical Jewish
teachings.

In recent times in Hebron, Lag BaOmer has become a traditional time for
visiting the Tomb of Otniel Ben
Knaz
, the first judge of Israel.
