Thousands came to Hebron to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Lag BaOmer, light the traditional bonfire and sing and dance. The event was held outside the Maarat HaMachpela (Tomb of the Patriarchs & Matriarchs) and organized by the Hebron Hospitality organization and the Knesset and the Hebron – Kiryat Arba Religious Council.
The Ashira band performed Hebrew Lag BaOmer tunes such as “Bar Yochai” and klezmer classics.
Among those who attendance were the head of the Merkaz HaRav yeshiva in Jerusalem Rabbi Yaakov Shapira, the Chief Rabbi of Hebron and Kiryat Arba, Rabbi Avraham Schwartz, the head of Torah B’Tzion yeshiva in Efrat Rabbi Nachum Neriya, and Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich.
