This week’s Torah portion is all about coming into the land. It’s called Ki Tavo. When you’ll come into the land. It’s got a lot of mitzvot. It’s got a lot of beautiful things about the land of Israel. But actually, There’s a verse that it says
Hashem. You have spoken about Him. You have said that you are going to put Him as God and walk in His path.
What is this word הֶֽאֱמַ֖רְתָּ?
Then the next verse, immediately it says
וַֽהֹ הֶֽאֱמִֽירְךָ֣ הַיּ֗וֹם
God said about you today
לִֽהְי֥וֹת לוֹ֙ לְעַ֣ם סְגֻלָּ֔ה
God said that you are going to be for Him a unique nation, a treasured nation, a powerful nation.
What is this word הֶֽאֱמַ֖רְתָּ?

Also in Rosh Hashannah, we’re going to sing very similar words, we say,
אָנוּ מַאֲמִירֶיךָ וְאַתָּה מַאֲמִירֵנוּ
What does this word Maamar mean? You know, I came up with a translation for it that I think is just accurate, which is “announce”.
|
We announce God in this world. We take You upon ourselves. We’re going to be a light unto the nations. Jerusalem is going to announce you. Our attack in Qatar, that’s going to announce you.

We’re going to get out there to the world and say, there’s a God in Israel, and God is going to announce about us that we’re His chosen people.

That’s what we sing on Rosh Hashannah — Anu Mamirecha — Hashem, we announce You in this world — ve’Atah mamireinu — and you announce us. You proclaim us in the world.

Be’erzat Hashem, let us be good emissaries of announcing God in this world, and he can be trusted to be a great Emissary to announce us.

God bless you wherever you are. Lots of love from Hebron, in the good land of Israel and Shalom.
