Thousands of people visited Hebron during the week-long Jewish holiday of Passover for
tours of historical sites, and family-friendly activities.
The bi-annual musical Hallel prayer gathering took place Sunday morning outside the Cave
of the Patriarchs & Matriarchs (Tomb of Machpela). Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu led the
services with musical accompaniment by Rabbi Uriel Saeed and a group of musicians.
People from all over Israel and visitors from abroad joined in song, prayer and dance as
rabbis joined hands with soldiers, police, and youth from different Israeli demographic
groups. The event was live-streamed on social media.
The Hall of Isaac & Rebecca inside the Cave of the Patriarchs complex
was open on both Sunday April 9th and Monday April 10th. This section of the holy
site is the largest and contains the “Entrance to the Garden of Eden.”

Unfortunately, the annual concert featuring top-name musical performers was cancelled.
Due to an unexpected forecast of rain, and the outdoor event was rescheduled for a
day earlier. Yet after the brutal terrorist attack that took the lives of two youth from
the nearby Judea community of Efrat it was decided to cancel the festivities which would
have coincided with the funerals. Scheduled to perform were Haim Israel, Aharon Razel,
Bini Landau, Elitzur, Moshe Klein, and Dvir Cohen.
The Jewish community of Hebron wished to offer condolences to the family, and the
residents of Efrat.
Thank you to all the participants who came from far and wide, the Association of
Community Rabbis, the Kiryat Arba and Hebron municipal councils and religious councils,
the staff and management of the Cave of the Patriarchs Cave, production team, medics,
IDF, police and everyone who made this a safe and meaningful holiday experience.
