Pete Hegseth of Fox News Visits Hebron

Pete Hegseth of the American-based Fox News visited Hebron
on August 18, 2016 and toured the Jewish community as part of a 4-day trip
throughout Israel. Hegseth is a United States armed forces veteran who
served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The group visited the Tomb of Machpela, the Tel Hevron archeological site,
and the Beit Hadassah
museum of Hebron history where they viewed the new historical drama “Touching
Eternity”.

Regarding the film, which is a dramatic depiction of Hebron’s history,
Hegseth said, “the movie was fantastic. Before coming to Hebron, I didn’t
truly understand the depth of the situation. Biblically I understood the basic
sense, but when you see it in front of you, you realize the significance. You go
there and realize the ongoing contention — where Jews can go and they can’t.
You realize it’s a massive city surrounding this one holy site of Judaism. This is the
root of Judaism and

I commend the community that maintains the heritage here.”

Noam Arnon, spokesperson for the Jewish community of Hebron
stated:

“We are happy to share our vision and ideas with the many guests
who come from all over the world and believe in the cause of justice. We returned to the
source of Judaism. This is the place where terrorists once destroyed an
innocent Jewish community and so this is the place to show that terror will not
succeed. I live over there and Arabs live over here and we say hello to each other
in the street. Once we know our purpose here, they will accept our purpose here.
This is the most ancient Jewish historical site in the world and we are proud to
continue it.”

Dr. Joe Frager, a Jewish-American professor at the Einstein School of
Medicine organized the trip and donated a Torah scroll to the Jewish community, which
Hegseth helped carry.

Dr. Frager said of Hegseth, “this is a man who fought in Iraq and
Afghanistan, and all Americans should come here to Hebron to see
this thriving community full of life and joy and young children growing
up without fear. But the way the media portrays Hebron, they make it into some kind
of out-of-this-world type of city. I’ve been here many times, but each year it
grows.”
