Thousands Attend Women’s Gathering

(updated Sep. 30, 2022)

The annual Closest to Mother (HaChi Krovot LeEma) women’s prayer gathering
was held in Hebron outside the Tomb of the Ancestors (Cave of Machpela) on September 29,
2022.

The event featured slichot prayers, music and inspirational speeches by well-known
lecturer and author Rabbanit Yemima Mizrachi, musician Ruhama ben Yosef, and guest
speaker Yael Shevach, widow of Rabbi Raziel Shevach.

It takes place every year during the Ten Days of Repentance in between the Jewish
holidays of Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur.

The Bible records the Cave of Machpela as being the site which Abraham purchased as a
burial place for his beloved wife Sarah. The Biblical matriarchs Rebecca and Leah are
buried there too, making it a significant location for the seasonal time of
introspection.

Past performers have included top-selling Israeli female singers Sarit Hadad, Etti
Ankri, TV star Eden Harel, Din Din Aviv, Ricka Razel and more.

Other slichot events are planned this year including a main one for both men and
women led by the chief rabbis of Israel. Click here for more
